Design and engineering offices
Design and Engineering Offices - Wichita, Kansas
Airbus opened its first North American design and engineering facility in 2002, bringing together some of America's top talent to work on the 525-seat A380 and other long-range Airbus programmes. In June 2010, the Wichita location was expanded with a second engineering center to focus on wing work for Airbus aircraft, and house a team of in-service repair engineers specializing in critical support for customers around the world. By early 2017, Airbus is planning to relocate its Wichita operation to Wichita State University’s Innovation Campus, taking advantage of support infrastructure at the site, including engineering labs, research faculty, conference facilities and educational opportunities, as well as facilitating collaboration with other members of the community. Engineers at the Airbus Engineering Center operations in Wichita support on-going programme activity for the company’s modern single-aisle and widebody jetliners, including significant design work on the A350 XWB.
