Airbus maintains a standard of 18 inch (45.72cm) minimum in its long haul economy cabins. However, other manufacturers are eroding passenger comfort standards by going back to narrower seat widths from the 1950s in order to remain competitive. Changing Body Mass Index (BMI) and perspectives on personal space have encouraged other industries, such as leisure and automotive, to re-think seat width.

Improving air traffic management with PEGASE

The volume of global air traffic has been steadily increasing for years. To accommodate the anticipated growth moving forward, Airbus is supporting PEGASE (Providing Effective Ground & Air data Sharing via Extended Projected Profile) - which is part of the SESAR (Single European Sky ATM Research) initiative. PEGASE connects jetliner and ground systems to optimise trajectory in three dimensions (latitude, longitude and altitude), plus time with real-time exchange of trajectory information – the Extended Projected Profile – between aircraft and air traffic management systems.

Airbus launches new A320 Airspace interior

The brand DNA is based on a consistent range of strong cabin product elements which provide both tangible benefits to passengers and differentiation to airlines.
