“Airbus has participated in Zhuhai Airshow since it was first staged in 1996 and we are very pleased to see the development of Zhuhai Airshow and the Chinese aviation industry,” said Eric Chen, President and CEO of Airbus China. “We are committed to the long term development of Chinese aviation industry by providing the fastest growing market with right aircraft at the right moment and top level services and support, as well as conducting win-win cooperation with Chinese partners”, he added.
Airbus entered China market in 1985 as an A310 was delivered to what is today China Eastern Airlines. Shortly after the delivery of the first aircraft to China, Airbus started industrial cooperation with China. So far, more than 1070 Airbus aircraft are being operated by Chinese airlines, accounting for some 50% of the total fleet of aircraft over 100 seats in China. Chinese aviation industry companies have been fully involved in the design and assembly of Airbus aircraft. There are components produced in China on all Airbus commercial aircraft types. Airbus now has four joint-ventures with Chinese partners covering training and support, engineering, final assembly and composite manufacturing, in addition to a number of cooperation projects.
