Airbus is named title sponsor of the LPGA golf tournament in Mobile, Alabama

Summary

While its first U.S.-based aircraft assembly plant is under construction at Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley, Alabama, Airbus is venturing into another international project with local connections – professional women’s golf.

Airbus will be the title sponsor for the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament in Mobile this spring. The tournament will be known as the Airbus Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, and will be held May 22-25 at the RTJ Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Alabama.
“The announcement that Airbus would be assembling A320 Family aircraft in its first U.S.-based production line in Mobile capped a long campaign that brought the community, elected officials and business together and put Mobile on the international stage within the aviation community,” said Allan McArtor, Chairman of Airbus Americas.  “Now, Airbus is proud to combine its name with another event which puts Mobile on the international stage in another arena: ladies professional golf.”
The LPGA is the world’s leading professional golf organization for women. Founded in 1950, it has diverse membership – with more than 1,700 members representing 29 different countries.
