Airbus and EADS’ Guus Dekkers honoured as “Chief Information Officer of the Year”


Guus Dekkers, the Airbus and EADS Chief Information Officer (CIO) has been named CIO of the Year in a coordinated effort of German magazines COMPUTERWOCHE (Computer Week) and CIO-Magazin, which recognized him for leadership in applying product lifecycle management to Airbus’ new A350 XWB jetliner and overall management excellence across the EADS group.

Both owned by the International Data Group (IDG), COMPUTERWOCHE and CIO-Magazin are leading German-language trade publications for the information and communications technology markets. In selecting Dekkers for the honour, the magazines highlighted his efforts in support of the A350 XWB – Airbus’ next-generation twin-engine airliner that successfully initiated its flight test and certification programme in 2013.
This is not the first time Dekkers has been recognized for his capabilities: in 2011 he was named Most International CIO of the Decade in a peer selection organised by CIO-Magazin.
Dekkers was nominated Chief Innovation Officer at Airbus in June 2008, and appointed to the same position across EADS shortly after. He is responsible for all information and systems technology at Airbus and the group worldwide.
