A Middle East “introduction” for the A400M at Dubai

Flight demo day 2 - 04 A400M Airbus military
Visitors to this week’s Dubai Airshow are seeing Airbus Military’s A400M displayed for the first time at a major aviation event in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The next-generation airlifter’s debut at this important biennial aviation industry gathering will highlight its advanced capabilities, which are well-suited for the region’s air forces. To demonstrate this aircraft’s performance, the A400M is carrying out its impressive flying routine from the air show’s Dubai World Central location.

2013 has been a milestone year for the A400M, with the initial two aircraft handed over to the French Air Force, while the delivery process is underway with Turkey – the airlifter’s second operator.

Designed to meet the modern needs of global air forces, the A400M combines the strategic performance required for long-range missions with the tactical capability to operate from short and unpaved runways.

Among the A400M’s technological and operational features are: the world’s most powerful turboprop engine in production; an airframe with 30 per cent composite construction, including the first complete wing of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP); and an advanced cockpit based on Airbus’ A380 commercial jetliner.

Airbus Military’s market presence in the Middle East and North Africa regions is already well-established through the company’s CN235/C295 family of tactical transport aircraft, and the A330 MRTT tanker – which are also proven in the region’s operating conditions.
