Hong Kong looks to “harmonize” flight operations with trial of advanced Airbus ProSky solution

The Airbus ProSky subsidiary’s air traffic flow management solution, called Harmony for ANSPs (air navigation service providers), has been selected by the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department for a trial to enhance local flight operations.

This advanced solution provides a framework for exchanging flight data among users who share the need for a common view of air traffic flow operations. With it, users are able to model and implement traffic management initiatives to align air traffic demand with available capacity through specific airport-based and airspace-based flow programs.

By deploying Harmony for ANSPs, the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department aims to improve operational efficiency while adhering to the highest safety standards, enhancing efficiency in airborne flow restrictions and increasing common situational awareness among stakeholders.

Specific objectives for the trial are to balance air traffic demand and capacity at Hong Kong International Airport, as well as to deploy automated tools for modeling and implementing air traffic flow management procedures to successfully execute new air traffic control initiatives.
