All-business transatlantic service and corporate shuttle operations are all in a day's work for the A320 Family
The A319 has become a popular aircraft for all-business class service and corporate shuttle operations, underscoring the efficiency and flexibility of Airbus' twin-engine A320 Family.
Non-stop transatlantic flights flown with the A319 Long Range aircraft are receiving rave reviews from passengers who use the service from Germany to the United States. These flights are operated by Switzerland's PrivatAir for German flag carrier Lufthansa, and are configured in a highly comfortable four-abreast layout with 48 seats that recline 172 degrees.
The all-business service links Germany's Dusseldorf with Chicago and New Jersey's Newark airport near New York. Two A319 Long Range aircraft are operating the flights, performing six transatlantic roundtrips per week. Their average daily utilisation is the highest of any A320 Family aircraft operator typically running at more than 13 hours per day.
This summer, A319 Long Range airliners will be used by Italy's Eurofly on all-business service from Milan to New York. The Eurofly A319s also will be configured with 48 seats, and will feature a refined and elegant cabin designed by Alviero Martini. Passenger amenities are to include personal 9-inch video screens with remote control, video and audio on demand and a USB hookup for laptop computers that allow passengers to send and receive text messages and e-mail.
Eurofly's all-business transatlantic flights will mark an expansion of company's travel service, which has focused on the leisure market. It currently operates an Airbus fleet with A320s for short- and medium-haul routes, along with the A330-200 for long-haul flights.
The A319's excellent reliability and optimised cabin size also makes the aircraft perfectly suited for corporate shuttle operations. Automobile manufacturer DaimlerChrysler uses its Airbus Corporate Jetliner (ACJ) for four to five weekly roundtrips with company personnel between the headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany and its U.S. operations in the state of Michigan. The AJC a version of the A319 tailored for the business and VIP market also flies twice a month between Germany and Spain, and also performs ad hoc charters for the DaimlerChrysler group and others.
DaimlerChrysler has configured its ACJ with 48 executive seats, and the aircraft average daily utilisation of approximately 10 hours per day once again underscores the high reliability of Airbus' A320 Family.
