Students who dream of shaping aviation’s future were given a first-hand look at the industry during the Paris Air Show as Airbus hosted its Fly Your Ideas contest winners – members of Team Levar, from Brazil.
The students came to the show’s Le Bourget Airport venue with their innovative idea to retrofit cargo holds to allow luggage to hover on air – similar to the air hockey table game – while being loaded and unloaded. While at the show, they contributed to Airbus’ “Express yourself – design your future” mural.
The biannual Fly Your Ideas competition run by Airbus and supported by UNESCO was designed to showcase disruptive new concepts for aviation and inspire young talent to create a sustainable future for the industry. Over 600 students from 384 universities worldwide participated in Airbus’ third edition of the competition.
The Team Levar winners summed up their experience from the contest: “We want to keep working together as a team because that was the richest thing of all,” said one of the Brazilian students.
Selected by a panel of judges, Team Levar won the €30,000 first prize, topping runner-up Team CLiMA from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia.
Airbus hosted the top two teams and the three other finalists – Team AVAS from India, the Italian Team Flybird, and Team Embarker from Malaysia – at its Toulouse facilities last week.
