Airbus confirms MRO Network success with second meeting

The Maintenance Repair & Overhaul Network met for a second time in late October to discuss new initiatives for future cooperation in Airbus services and to validate the Network's role as an enabling tool to deliver new and enhanced services to Airbus customers.

The Airbus-instigated Maintenance Repair & Overhaul Network met for the second time last month to discuss its further strategic development and deployment into regions with fast-growing Airbus fleets.



The MRO Network was first established in March this year with 12 Airbus experienced companies around the world. Its aim is to offer competitive, quality maintenance services to Airbus customers worldwide through extended co-operation with experienced MRO providers. The results of the MRO Network's first operations proved very positive. A Customer Satisfaction Improvement Programme survey showed that customer satisfaction levels exceeded 80 percent. MRO performance benchmarks were delivered and improvement action is being launched.



During the MRO Network's second three-day workshop at the end of October, strategic deployment of the Network into regions with high Airbus fleet growth topped the agenda, with India, China and the Gulf region as the main targets. Another topical discussion focused on the Network's role as the backbone of future Airbus service offerings up to total support packages.



In this framework, several initiatives were launched in particular for cooperation in maintenance training, major repair working parties and A300/A310 long-term support. Some of these programmes, such as the MRO major repair working parties have already yielded some very encouraging results. The MRO Network's second meeting confirmed the Network's role as an enabling tool to deliver new and enhanced services to Airbus customers.



The 12 MRO companies who signed a Network Agreement with Airbus last March are amongst the leading MRO firms in the world. They are: Air Canada Technical Services, Air France Industries, Air New Zealand Engineering Services, EADS SOGERMA Services, Iberia Maintenance, Sabena Technics, SIA Engineering Company, Singapore Technologies Aerospace, SR Technics Switzerland, TACA Aeroman, TAP Maintenance & Engineering and TIMCO Aviation Services.



These first Network members have vast experience in the maintenance of Airbus aircraft and represent a good industry cross-section, both in term of their regional disposition and the mix of independent and airline affiliated MROs.
