Fernando Alonso

Vice President Flight Test Division

Fernando Alonso joined Airbus as a performance engineer in 1982.
Between 1995 and 2002 he was responsible for the development of flight controls and handling qualities during the flight test programmes of the A319, A330-200, A340-500 and A340-600 and in February 2002 he was appointed to his current position as vice president, flight test division.
During his career at Airbus, Fernando Alonso has accumulated more than 3,000 hours of flight tests and has been a flight test engineer on the maiden flights of the A340-200 in 1992, the A319 in 1997, the A318 in 2002 and the A380 in 2005.
Fernando Alonso was born in Madrid, Spain in 1956.

Pascal Verneau

Test flight engineer

Pascal Verneau started his careers in flight tests in 1993.
He joined Airbus and the flight test division in 1999. In that position, he participated in the development tests of the A340-600 then became aircraft manager for the second flying A380.
Pascal Verneau has accumulated more than 6,000 flight hours on more than 80 different aircraft types and helicopters.
Since the beginning of the A380 certification campaign he has flown 200 hours on the A380.
Pascal Verneau was born in France in 1962.

Jean-Michel Roy

Vice-president training & flight operations, support and services

Jean-Michel Roy started his career with Airbus in 1981 as a flight operations engineer before joining ATR as flight instructor and then director of the ATR Training Centre.
In 1996, Mr Roy was appointed vice president training and flight operations for AI(R), the European regional aircraft manufacturer.
After three years in China as chief pilot for the Airbus Training Centre, he returned to Hambourg as a test pilot on A319 and A321and then toToulouse To become head of Airbus Training and Flight Operations.
A test pilot, Jean-Michel Roy is also qualified as an instructor and examiner on the A320, A330 and A340. He has logged 10 000 flight hours.
Jean-Michel Roy was born in France in 1956.

Peter Chandler

Experimental test pilot

Peter Chandler has been an experimental test pilot with Airbus since joining the company in the summer of 2000.
Prior to this appointment he worked for Virgin Atlantic Airways where he was a long-haul captain on Airbus A340s and also a project pilot representing the airline in various industry working groups, and in the early development of both the A340-600 and A380.
Peter Chandler flies all Airbus types from the A300 to the A380 and is the Deputy Project Pilot for the A380. He has been heavily involved in all aspects of the A380’s cockpit and systems design and development, and since April 2005 has regularly carried out flight tests in the first test aircraft.
Peter Chandler was born in 1954 in England.

Patrick du Ché

Flight Test Engineer

Patrick du Ché started his careers in flight tests in 1993.
He joined Airbus’ flight test division in 2001.
Prior to this appointment, his experience included working in the navy for 15 years and on the Rafale programme for seven years.
From September 2001 to September 2004, he worked in the aircraft acceptance team and since September 2004, he has been involved in the development tests and more particularly in the performance aspects of the single aisle and A380 programmes.
Patrick du Ché has accumulated more than 1500 flight hours on more than 40 different aircraft types and helicopters.
Patrick du Ché was born in France in 1965.

Ulrich Hohl

A380 Training Development Platform

Ulrich Hohl was seconded to Airbus in 2003 to work on the A380 Training Development Platform.
He began his career as a pilot with German national carrier Lufthansa in 1980.
In 1985 he became a Jet Training Instructor at the Lufthansa Pilot School and a year later he became a first officer on the A310.
Between 1989 and 2000, he was a captain or type rating examiner on a variety of aircraft.
In November 2000, Ulrich Hohl became a captain on A340s and a type Rating Examiner on A330s and A340s.
Mr Hohl was born in Germany in 1957.

Jacques Drappier

Senior Director Flight and Cabin Crew Training

Jacques Drappier joined Airbus as Senior Director Programmes Training in 2001, a position he held until 2004 when he became Senior Director Flight and Cabin crew training.
His responsibilities include the development of all A380 training material.
He is a former Sabena management pilot. Whilst with Sabena he held various positions in the training flight operations departments, ending his time with them as Executive Vice President Operations.
Jacques Drappier has logged some 12.000 flight hours and has flown all Airbus aircraft types from the first A300B2 to the A340-600.
He is qualified as an instructor on all Airbus fly-by-wire aircraft.
He was born in Belgium in 1952.
