Scandinavia’s leading carrier becomes operator of world’s most fuel efficient single aisle

Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), has taken delivery of its first of 30 A320neo aircraft ordered, becoming the first Arline in Scandinavia to operate the world’s most fuel efficient single aisle aircraft.

SAS ordered the A320neo as part of its strategy to modernize its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft, reducing environmental impact such as emissions and aircraft noise. The A320neo will join SAS’s existing Airbus fleet of 25 A320 Family aircraft, eight A330s and eight A340s.

Frontier Airlines, headquarters in Denver, Colorado (U.S.), took delivery today of its first A320neo. Frontier is the first U.S. airline to receive an A320neo with CFM engines, and the aircraft is the first of 80 A320neo Family aircraft the low-cost carrier has ordered. Airbus today celebrated the delivery of its 10,000th aircraft - an A350-900 for Singapore Airlines. The milestone event was marked by a special ceremony in Toulouse hosted by Airbus Group CEO Tom Enders and attended by Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines.

The aircraft delivered today is the sixth A350-900 for Singapore Airlines, out of a total order for 67. Featuring a special “10,000th Airbus” logo, the aircraft will be used to launch the airline’s new non-stop services between Singapore and San Francisco later this month.

Airbus’ second A350-1000 flight test aircraft has emerged from the paint shop in Toulouse, France with a distinctive carbon fibre-themed livery that is inspired by the advanced composites technology incorporated on the world’s most-modern widebody aircraft product line. 

The A350-1000 is the longest-fuselage member of the all-new, highly efficient A350 XWB Family, which features the most comfortable and quietest twin-aisle cabin in the world. The A350-1000 typically seats 366 passengers and offers a 25 percent lower operating cost than its similarly sized competitors.
