Wherever it flies, the A380 continues to be an impressive sight as the jetliner’s route network expands to a growing number of destinations around the globe.

Ten years after the first take-off on 27 April 2005, Airbus’ A380 has clearly established itself as the world’s favourite Very Large Aircraft (VLA) – with the 317 orders booked from 18 customers, representing a 90 per cent share of this market.

First 242-tonne A330-300 is delivered to Delta Air Lines

Enhanced version allows longer flights at lower costs

The first 242-tonne Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW) variant of the A330-300 was delivered today to Delta Air Lines. The Atlanta, Georgia (U.S.) – based airline is the first to receive the aircraft type from among 11 worldwide customers for the option. Delta has selected GE CF6-80E1 engines to power its new A330-300.

Yesterday, in Paris, Didier Evrard, Head of Programmes at Airbus, was awarded the 2015 Icare prize by the France-based Association for Professional Aeronautics and Aerospace Journalists (AJPAE). He received this accolade as Head of the A350 XWB Programme, a role he held from 2007 to 2014. This association of journalists wished to highlight the exemplary manner in which he led this ambitious programme –­ which involves around 12,000 Airbus employees.

Sichuan Airlines receives its 100th Airbus aircraft

China’s largest all Airbus operator celebrates a land-mark delivery

Airbus has delivered the 100th aircraft, an A321, to China’s largest all Airbus operator Sichuan Airlines. The aircraft was handed over to Sichuan Airlines during a delivery ceremony in Hamburg, Germany. Equipped with Sharklet fuel saving wing tip devices and powered by IAE V2500 engines, the aircraft  features a comfortable two class cabin, seating 194 passengers (8 business and 186 in economy).  Including the latest delivery Sichuan Airlines’ fleet comprises 93 A320 Family aircraft and seven A330 Family aircraft.

Partnership with Small & Medium Enterprises

Airbus and Aerospace Valley, the largest Research & Development cluster in France, have selected four projects proposed by Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) which will be supported in the short term. This follows a call for ideas launched in 2014 across Europe to reduce aircraft noise, CO2emissions or fuel consumption in civil aviation, to contribute to the eco-performance and efficiency of the cabin as well as in the development of alternative energies.

A print for the future: Innovation is helping the A320neo take flight

The company is utilizing 3D printing (also known as additive layer manufacturing) to produce components for the pylon of A320neo developmental aircraft powered by CFM International’s LEAP-1A – which is one of two new-generation engine choices for the single-aisle NEO Family, along with the PurePower PW1100G-JM from Pratt & Whitney.

Airbus and ORACLE TEAM USA: one step closer to the 2017 America’s Cup yacht race

Airbus, as Official Innovation Partner of ORACLE TEAM USA, and the defending champion of the America’s Cup, passed a key milestone in February when ORACLE TEAM USA launched its new foiling AC45S catamaran. This boat is a testing platform for the technology the team will use in the AC62 - the type of boat that will race in the 2017 America’s Cup.
