Airbus reaffirmed its strong commercial and industrial ties to China this week, building on a successful relationship with the country to further establish the company’s position as a leader in this rapidly-developing market for commercial aviation.

With two separate agreements announced this week between Airbus and its Chinese partners, the company received its largest-ever A330 commitment for China, while also creating the framework for setting up an A330 completion and delivery centre in Tianjin.

The wings for the first Airbus A350-1000 have begun the process of assembly at Broughton, North Wales. 

The A350-1000 wing has the same span of the A350-900 that is already in service, but 90% of the parts have been modified and the trailing edge has been extended to resize the wing for the additional payload and range.

International Airlines Group (IAG) has signed a firm order for 31 Airbus aircraft, which includes 11 wide-body aircraft (eight A350-900s, three A330-200s) and 20 A320neos. The A350s and A330s are slated for Iberia’s fleet modernisation and to open new long-haul routes, and the A320neos will be allocated to the group’s airlines for fleet replacement. 

With this latest order for 31 aircraft IAG and its airlines have ordered a total of nearly 450 aircraft from Airbus. IAG’s airlines British Airways, Iberia and Vueling, between them operate nearly every aircraft in Airbus’ product range...

Transaero Airlines, Russia’s second largest airline, took delivery of its first Airbus A321 aircraft. The festive ceremony was held in Vnukovo international airport (Moscow) on the arrival of the A321 welcomed by the airline management, representatives of Vnukovo, Airbus and members of the media. The aircraft is delivered as part of Transaero’s contract with ICBC Leasing Company.

Airbus’ Runway Overrun Prevention System (ROPS) certified by EASA on A330 Family

Airbus has achieved EASA certification of its innovative *Runway Overrun Prevention System (ROPS) technology on A330 Family aircraft. This on-board cockpit technology, which Airbus has pioneered over several years, is now certified and available on all Airbus Families. ROPS is an alerting system which reduces exposure to runway overrun risk, and if necessary, provides active protection. Korean Air will become the first A330 operator to implement ROPS on its A330s in service in the coming months.

As it touched down in Atlanta, the newest commercial aircraft in the world, the Airbus A350 XWB, kicked off the U.S. leg of its tour of the Americas. The demo tour features a flight test version of the aircraft, which Airbus is showing off to investors and airlines in Atlanta, Newark, Chicago and Milwaukee before the general public can experience the A350 XWB at EAA’s AirVenture air show in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Last month brought a dramatic change of scenery for Airbus engineer Xavier Pol, who relocated from the company’s St. Martin campus in Toulouse, France all the way to the Atlantic island of Bermuda – where he is now furthering the Airbus innovation partnership with ORACLE TEAM USA as the sailing team prepares to defend its title in the 2017 America’s Cup competition.

Innovation and leadership on display: Airbus at the 2015 Paris Air Show

Airbus will showcase its highly-efficient families of commercial aircraft – which range from 100 to more than 500 seats – and continuous technological innovations at this year’s Paris Air Show, which runs from 15-21 June.

The company’s market-leading widebody product line will be out in “full force” on the grounds of Le Bourget Airport near Paris – with four total A350 XWB and A380 aircraft appearing during the event. Qatar Airways – the next-generation A350 XWB’s launch customer – will display one of its A350-900s, along with an A380. These jetliners are to be joined by two Airbus in-house...
