The first delivery of an A321 aircraft from the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility to Spirit Airlines took place today in Mobile, Alabama. On hand for the occasion were executives from Airbus and Spirit Airlines, 140 Spirit Airlines employees, and the 350 Airbus employees at the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility.

China Airlines’ first A350 XWB takes to the skies

The first A350 XWB for China Airlines (CAL) has completed its maiden flight over the skies of Toulouse in South West France.

The aircraft bearing the airline’s distinctive livery will now enter the final phase of production, including further ground and flight tests. This first A350-900 for China Airlines is scheduled for delivery in the coming weeks.

China Airlines has 14 A350-900s on order. The aircraft is expected to be deployed on the carrier's long-haul routes to Europe and on selected regional routes. The A350-900 will join China Airlines' Airbus fleet including A330s and A340s on its regional and long haul services.

Low-cost carrier Volaris took delivery of its first A320neo, making the airline the first operator of the A320neo in North America. Volaris is Mexico’s largest Airbus customer, having ordered 74 A320 Family aircraft, including 30 A320neo. The all-Airbus operator became a customer in 2006, and since then has become Mexico’s biggest A320 Family operator with 63 A320 Family aircraft in service, including 17 A319, 42 A320 and four A321.

A rapid phase-in for Saudi Arabian Airlines’ A330-300 Regional jetliners

Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) is quickly building up its A330-300 Regional jetliner fleet, receiving ten aircraft during 2016 from a total of 20 on order. After Saudi’s initial A330-300 Regional delivery earlier this summer, two more were provided by Airbus in August, along with seven others before year-end. 

Saudia is leasing the A330-300 Regional fleet from International Air Finance Corporation (IAFC). These aircraft are joining the national carrier of Saudi Arabia’s current A330-300 and A320 Family jetliners to boost capacity on some of its most in-demand regional/domestic...
