Training
A global presence

- Airbus’ A380 simulator features an exact replica of the double-deck jetliner’s cockpit, and incorporates the actual A380 flight control systems and on-board computers.
With its global network of training centres, Airbus ensures a smooth entry-into-service for each and every aircraft that rolls off one of the company’s final assembly lines – providing optimised training solutions for pilots, flight attendants, maintenance staff and performance engineers.
These Airbus facilities – which are located in Bangalore, India; Beijing, China; Hamburg, Germany; Miami, Florida, USA; and Toulouse, France – leverage the most advanced technologies available today, with specialised courses administered by top-level instructors.
All training for flight crews, cabin attendants and maintenance personnel is coordinated from the Airbus Training Centre in Toulouse, which is equipped with nine full-flight simulators, a series of fixed-base simulators and a range of computer-based system trainers. The Toulouse training centre also designs all training courses, with its extensive use of computer-based technology enabling a high level of flexibility and mobility for online studies. Leveraging this innovative approach, instructors are able to conduct ground school classes around the world virtually.
Virtual environments
A pioneer in the use of new-generation technologies throughout its operations, Airbus is the first maintenance-training organisation to receive aviation authority approval for the use of virtual reality tools as part of practical training of technicians.
These advanced tools – the PC-based Maintenance/Flight Training Device (M/FTD) and Virtual Aircraft – allowing trainees to consolidate and test their accumulated knowledge in a digital environment before practising on actual aircraft.
The M/FTD replicates a real aircraft cockpit using computer screens that simulate systems and maintenance functions; while the Virtual Aircraft simulates an entire airplane in three dimensions – enabling the trainees to walk around, visit different areas or work on various components.
Extending the reach
Airbus’ training solutions are enhanced by the company’s strategic partnership with Canadian aviation simulation and training organisation CAE. This cooperation, established in 2002, delivers the most cost-effective and competitive training services in the marketplace – leveraging Airbus’ innovative approach to courseware and expertise with CAE’s advanced equipment.
