Having already completed 1 year of the Graduate Supply Chain & Logistics programme, I can honestly say it has exceeded my expectations.
Initially I was placed into Logistics Improvements department where I spent 6 months. During this placement I gained a vast knowledge of how logistics is planned and operates throughout the Airbus sites. Having been given the responsibility to manage an improvement project involving the distribution of various deliverables throughout the factory; I quickly developed and improved my skill set. Following that, I initiated a move to the procurement quality department. There I obtained exposure to supplier management and the manufacturing process of aircraft parts. In addition I gained familiarity with the complex supplier qualification processes.
The placement scheme ensures you get a well rounded view of how Airbus works as a whole and enables you do a great deal of networking which is vital in business. Another great aspect of the Programme is the managerial support provided by your Target Area Owner, Mentor and rotating lineside manager. The catalogue of relevant courses is endless which ensures your continuous development. There is a great emphasis on development time, which includes activities that support STEM subjects and most recently attending Farnborough Airshow.
