I joined Airbus as I wanted a graduate scheme where I could develop myself professionally whist also achieving a Chartership in Accountancy. Airbus' size makes it a perfect graduate employer as there is a lot of structure and effort put into the programme so you always have the support you need.
In the Finance DEG Programme you do several 6-month placements, spanning the whole financial side of Airbus. My first placement was based in the heart of the financial department, working on the intercompany process. Dealing with sites across different countries worldwide, I was quickly exposed to the scale and transnational nature of Airbus. After that I spent six months in Cost accounting, and then in Manufacturing controlling. The Programme has allowed me to work in different Airbus sites in the UK and transnationally. Currently I am on a Procurement controlling placement in Toulouse, France.
Along with the day to day role, I have invested my time qualifying to become a CIMA Chartered Management Accountant. As Airbus is a CIMA accredited training partner, it fully supports its Finance DEGs while achieving their Chartership.
That's really the beauty of the scheme; the ability to do so much and experience so much, but still having the support you need throughout to develop yourself professionally and make a real difference to Airbus.
