Airbus provides a look forward with its Paris Airshow exhibit

Airbus’ Paris Air Show exhibit provides an innovative look into the future of flying with its A350 XWB, and also offers in-depth information on the company’s full product line of jetliners, corporate/VIP aircraft and military airlifters.

Dominating the exhibit area – which is part of the EADS parent company’s large display stand (Hall 2A-151) – is a representative A350 XWB fuselage section, which serves as a purpose-built “immersion theatre” for a video presentation on Airbus’ newest jetliner.

This video provides A350 XWB programme perspective from the viewpoints of an aircraft architect, structural test engineer, wing aerodynamicist, aircraft interior designer and flight test pilot – and places their activity in the context of Airbus’ four decades of innovation.   It is the first in a series of A350 XWB videos that will follow the jetliner’s development over the next several years, and are to be shown at major shows and events.

Viewers seated in the “immersion theatre” are literally placed at the centre of the presentation, as coordinated images are displayed on the front screen, two side walls and ceiling to provide a true surrounding effect.  A video system specially developed for the A350 XWB theatre uses extremely high resolution imagery in delivering 16-million pixel resolution over the four areas covered by the projection.

Also included in Airbus’ Paris Air Show exhibit area is an advanced interactive multimedia display that provides marketing and commercial information on the company full aircraft product line.  Users of the display’s large touch screen navigate through a “virtual” airport terminal, and enter a specific product area by selecting the appropriate boarding gate.
