Supporting role: customers choose their top suppliers

Airbus recognised its best performing suppliers for in-service support at its 2008 Supplier Support Rating awards held at the Le Bourget air show on 16 June.

Airbus executive vice president customer services, Charles Champion, was on hand to present the prizes, which this year for the first time included categories for cabin suppliers.

Airbus Avionics, Rockwell Collins Avionics, Diehl Aerospace and Technofan all received a gold award in recognition of their consistent delivery of ‘exceptional customer support performance’. All four have maintained a place in the top ten of the awards table since 2004.

And Airbus Cabin Systems, Thales Avionics, Goodrich Fuel & Utility Systems, Thales In-Flight Entertainment, Hamilton Sundstrand and Parker each received a silver award in recognition of their top-ten ranking and achieving ‘excellent customer support performance’.

Additionally, Eaton was recognised as the most improved supplier for support in 2008.

For the cabin category, Weber won the best performing seat supplier award and Jamco was named best galleys and monuments supplier.

The awards are based on the feedback of customer airlines and this year, a record 5,297 questionnaires were received from 115 airlines, representing 77 per cent of the in-service Airbus fleet.
