Airbus provides a complete range of integrated training solutions, including initial, recurrent, transition and specialty training. This ensures a smooth introduction of Airbus aircraft into airline operation, and supports customers as they operate and grow their Airbus fleets.

The training of flight crews, cabin attendants and ground personnel for airline customers in the U.S., Canada and the rest of the Americas is coordinated through Airbus’ training center in Miami, Florida – a modern $50 million installation that was the first custom-designed Airbus facility of its type built in the United States.

The Miami facility has five full-flight simulators - four for the A320 Family and one for the A330/A340 – all equipped with day/night visual systems. In addition, one fixed-based simulator for A320 Family and another for the A330/A340 are used for flight crew and maintenance training.

Miami also has full-scale cabin door and emergency slide trainers configured for the A320 Family and A330/A340, and the center’s 12 state-of-the art computer classrooms are complemented by PC-based system trainers for hands-on training in the free play mode for Airbus’ fly-by-wire aircraft family. A full-scale cabin mockup of the Airbus Corporate Jetliner also is located at the Miami facility.

The 110,000-sq.-ft. Miami training center is staffed by nearly 100 Airbus employees, who work with approximately 4,000 trainee pilots, cabin attendants, and maintenance personnel each year.

Airbus has expanded its North American training presence through an agreement with CAE that makes this Canadian company’s training centers in Denver, Colorado and Toronto, Canada available to airline operators at Airbus’ high quality standards.

In addition, the extensive use of computer-based training technology provides a significant degree of “portability” to Airbus courses, allowing instructors to conduct ground school classes right at the customers’ own locations. This reduces the time away from home for trainees, and lowers their travel costs.
