Airbus has expanded the worldwide network of material centres and warehouses with its new Material and Logistics Centre in the Middle East in the Dubai Airport Free Zone.

This facility is operational since April 2008 and is to host more than 3,700 sq. metres of storage space and office facilities.

Located adjacent to the apron of Dubai International Airport, the fully air conditioned and humidity controlled centre will house 5,000 different part numbers and 43,000 items on stock – primarily for the A380.

A “vendor village” incorporates state-of-the-art business centre services, including storage and office facilities, enabling Airbus suppliers to offer 24/7 commercial and technical support with optimised delivery lead times.

Also included in the Airbus Middle East facility is a repair station and full maintenance facility for KID-Systeme/Airbus Buxtehude-built electronic components. This installation allows reduced shop processing times, and is approved of less than 10 days, and is approved by both the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the United Arab Emirates’ General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
