Dubai training centre passes 1,000th trainee milestone
23 November 2005

The Airbus trainer being demonstrated on the stand at Dubai Airshow was the background today of a ceremony for the 1,000th trainee to undertake training at the Dubai training centre, an A33O pilot for Qatar Airways.

Through its co-operation with CAE, Airbus is actively involved in the Dubai training centre which operates as a co-operative venture between CAE and Emirates. The centre is equipped with a flight simulator for the A320 Family and one for the A330/A340 Family. To meet the growing demand, the installation of a second A320 flight simulator is planned for the end of the year. The Dubai Training Centre provides flight crew training to Emirates’ pilots but also serves customers from the entire Middle East region and India.

Airbus is responsible for course contents, courseware, course approval and implementation of the training while CAE provides the simulators, the equipment and buildings. In this way, crews training in Dubai receive the same training and benefit from the same state-of-the-art equipment as in Toulouse or in any of the 16 training centres managed by Airbus or in a co-operation Airbus/CAE.

Emirates, the largest A380 customer to date, has ordered two A380 simulators for the Dubai centre and will be able to offer training to A380 pilots once the first instructors and crews have been trained in Toulouse.
