Airbus booked 55 new orders for its single-aisle and widebody aircraft in June, while 43 jetliners from the A320 and A330/A340 Families were delivered during the month to customers worldwide.

Widebody orders paced the business volume in June, with Air One contracting for 12 A350-800s plus 12 A330-200s, and Air China placing an order for 20 A330-200s. Single-aisle orders were received from two customers: Air One, which booked five A320s, and Air Astana – a new direct Airbus customer -- which ordered six A319s.

With the June business, total Airbus gross orders for 2008 reached 525 aircraft during the first six months of the year, composed of 335 single-aisle A318/A319/A320/A321s, 187 A330/A340/A350s, and three A380s.

The 34 single-aisle jetliners delivered by Airbus in June covered all four members of the A320 Family, with aircraft received by Aegean Airlines, Aerventure (for a new Airbus operator, Hemus Air), Air Asia, Air One, British Airways, China Southern Airlines, easyJet, GB Airways (easyJet), GECAS (for Aeroflot and East Star Airlines Co. Ltd.), Hainan, Hamburg International, ILFC (for Aer Lingus and Air Astana), Indian Airlines, Interjet, jetBlue Airways, LAN Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Simplify Deccan, TACA International Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Wizz Air and unnamed private customers.

Deliveries of widebodies in June were a total of eight A330-200s for Air China, CIT Leasing (for Air Europa), Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Middle East Airlines, Qantas Airways, and TAP-Portugal; along with one A340-500 for a private customer. In addition, Singapore Airlines took delivery of another A380, expanding its fleet as the carrier grows its international network with the 21st century Airbus jetliner.
