Airbus booked orders for one A320 and an A330-200 during May, and delivered a total of 43 single-aisle and widebody aircraft during the month – including another A380.
The A320 order was placed by Asiawide, a new Airbus customer in 2009, while ILFC signed for the A330-200.
A total of 34 single-aisle aircraft were delivered in May, with these jetliners received by Aircraft Purchase Fleet (for Alitalia), AERVENTURE (for Air France and TAP-Portugal), Alafco (for Bahrain Air), BOC Aviation (for CSA Czech Airlines), China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, CIT Leasing (for Jetstar Airways and National Air Services), easyJet, GECAS (for Iberworld), GO Air, Hamburg International, Iberia, ILFC (for Air France, Bangkok Airways, Chongqing Airlines, SATA International, S7 Airlines and Wataniya Airways), Indian Airlines (NACIL), RBS Aerospace (for Etihad Airways), Shenzhen Airlines, TAM Linhas Aereas, US Airways, and a private customer (which is a new Airbus operator in 2009).
Eight A330/A340 aircraft were provided to customers during the month, consisting of three A330-200s (one each to Avianca, ILFC for Gulf Air, and Middle East Airlines), four A330-300s (one to Thai Airways International, two to Lease Corporation International for Singapore Airlines, and one for Finnair), along with an A340-600 for Lufthansa.
The A380 was provided to Singapore Airlines, marking Airbus’ second delivery of its double-deck jetliner in 2009. This brings Singapore Airlines’ A380 fleet to seven, and increases the worldwide operational fleet to 15 (with Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Qantas). |
