Case Study - Philip
I joined Airbus in September 2006 as a Human Resources DEG. The programme has surpassed all my expectations. There is a genuine belief within the organisation that DEG's can help drive the business forward and become leaders of the future. Consequently, each placement and objective is challenging, demanding and ultimately, rewarding.
Highlights from my (albeit short) career include; leading a team of seven employees to design, develop and deliver a new Attendance Management Tool across both Airbus (UK) sites to some 10,000 employees, and working on a high level cost reduction project to fundamentally change the way pay slips were produced and distributed throughout the organisation. Amongst a variety of charity, and other developmental activities, there is a wide support network of Senior Managers, Career Mentors and Target Area Owners that you can draw upon for guidance or advice. Ultimately, the opportunities within Airbus (UK) are vast and are limited only by how far you wish to push and develop yourself.
Having now assumed a post-scheme role as an HR Business Partner for the Hawker Programme (for which I am accountable for HR support to +/- 800 employees), I have come to appreciate the solid foundation that the DEG Programme has provided me with. There is no doubt that my 24 months as a DEG have helped to shape and develop me, both personally and professionally. |
