| 1st Stage: Applying |
| |
Make sure that you read through all of our company information before starting your application. This will help you when filling out the application form and will give you a better insight of Airbus as a company, as well as how our current graduates feel about the programme.
Take your time to read through the different business areas and their requirements. Once you have chosen which areas you are best suited to, you are ready to begin the application form. Remember that this is your opportunity to promote yourself.
All applications must be submitted before the stated deadline and, as we hold assessment centres throughout the application period, we advise that you apply early to avoid disappointment.
Our application process is designed to be as easy as possible for you and do read the instructions before completing any part of the form.
When filling in out the application form we recommend that you have the following to hand to speed things along:
- Education dates (University, A Level and GSCE)
- Education results (University, A Level and GSCE)
- University modules
- Dates and details of any work experience
We advice the following when filling in your application form:
- Take your time
- Grammar and spelling matter
- Don't copy and paste
What we are looking for
Any company that is recruiting graduates wants to know that you have a desire and passion for their organisation. We want to hear from people who have an ambition, drive and enthusiasm for Airbus. With the large numbers of applications we receive, it is this sort of information that sets you aside from other candidates. The diagram below gives you some idea of our values and the kind of people we are looking for.
'The Airbus Way'
- Act with courage - take fair and courageous decisions in the interest of Airbus
- Drive innovation and deliver reliably - make realistic commitments and deliver on time, cost and quality. Champion change, innovation, eco-efficiency and improvement
- Generate customer value - understand and anticipate customer requirements in order to add value, whilst bringing a mature and differentiating innovative approach
- Practice global integration and teamwork - be a team player across the organisation, getting things done through the global networks and common processes, within and outside Airbus
- Face reality and act with integrity - be decisive and be open in working relationships
- Develop myself and others - respect, support and recognise others, whilst continuing to learn.

| 2nd Stage: Screening |
Once you have submitted your application form it is screened to check that you have met our basic entry requirements. You can expect to hear from us within approximately two weeks of sending in your application. |

| 3rd Stage: Online Psychometric Tests |
| |
For those who get through the initial screening, you will be invited to complete some online tests. These are designed to test your numerical, verbal and logical reasoning and you will be given up to seven days to complete them. These skills will be re-tested later on in the recruitment process.
The best way to prepare for these tests is to complete a few practice tests beforehand. You can do this by going to http://www.shldirect.com. We also give you a practice question before starting the actual test itself.
If you pass the online tests, your application will be submitted to the relevant business area. They will review your application and will make a decision about whether to bring you forward to the next stage of the recruitment process. |

| 4th Stage: The Assessment Centre |
| |
Research and preparation is important!
An Assessment Centre is your opportunity to show us why we should choose you over other candidates. To really shine at an assessment centre we recommend that you take time to prepare in the weeks that lead up to it, rather than leave it to the night before.
The assessments will be held over 1 day or 1½ days and will usually require an overnight stay. They will be held in Filton, Bristol or Broughton, North Wales.
Candidate numbers for an assessment are between 2 - 12 people and you will participate in a number of different exercises, including:
- Group Exercise
- Business Scenario Presentation
- Competency Interview
- Technical Interview (relating to the business area you are applying for)
- Problem Solving Ability Tests
There is also the opportunity for you to network with our current graduates informally over lunch and meet the assessors.
During the assessment we are looking for:
Knowledge of Airbus and its products.
Knowledge of the business area that you are applying for.
Enthusiasm for the company.
Good technical knowledge for the business area you have applied for.
Good understanding and portrayal of the Airbus Competencies.
Where can I get this information?
- Careers events
- Presentations
- Website - www.airbus-careers.com
- Airbus/EADs brochures and literature
- Airbus/EADS skills workshops
- Talking to Airbus personnel
What else should I think about?
Our assessment is not designed to catch you out, but to help you perform to the best of your ability. We appreciate that Assessment Centres are nerve-wracking and with this preparation you should feel more confident.
Things to consider before the assessment:
- How to demonstrate the skills and qualities we have identified.
- Why you want to work for Airbus.
- Questions that you want to ask the assessors.
- Why you want to work in the business area that you have applied for.
- Plan your time effectively.
- Make sure you know where you are going.
- If you are held up or are going to be late, make sure that you ring your recruitment contact as soon as you can so we can plan accordingly.
Things to consider during the assessment:
- Airbus will provide you with all necessary materials, but do bring any preparation work with you.
- In the exercises, it's ok to ask for a moment to think about the question you have just been asked.
- You can ask the assessors for assistance at any time.
- The assessment is a two way process, so you can use it to gather information and make an informed decision about whether you feel Airbus is the right company for you.
|

| 5th Stage: An Offer |
| |
| We aim to let you know the outcome of the assessment as soon as possible by phone, within two weeks. A verbal offer over the phone is followed by the relevant paperwork in the post. |

| 6th Stage: Security and Medical Clearance |
| |
Once you have accepted our offer, we then take you through our medical and security clearance procedure, which means we validate your references and your work history.
Once you have been security and medically cleared we will confirm your start date.
What happens next?
Between your start date confirmation and your actual start date we will send you the details of a series of online web chats. These web chats allow you to begin networking with other graduates before joining the organisation. It also allows you to speak with members of the business and current DEGs who are already working in the organisation. |
