Starting with its optimised takeoff and climb-out profile, the A350 XWB will be a truly eco-efficient aircraft, with significantly improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and lower noise levels.
Advanced technology integrated in the flight management system will enable the A350 XWB to perform automated Noise Abatement Departure Procedures (NADP). These result in the use of the minimum amount of thrust during takeoff, and allow for a climb-out flight path that reduces noise over local community areas. These departures guarantee the optimum profile is flown every time, providing the maximum eco-efficiency benefits while continuing to ensure the highest levels of operational safety.
The A350 XWB’s latest-generation engines offer major reductions in noise and emissions levels, which are well below the most stringent regulations in place today – as well as those planned for the future. These engines’ NOx (nitrogen oxide) levels are 35 per cent below the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s CAEP6 standards, while their unburned hydrocarbon output is a remarkable 99 per cent below the standards.
