The A330/A340 are true widebody jetliners, using Airbus’ 222-inch cross-section that has become the fuselage size of choice for airlines worldwide. This highly optimised design offers maximum flexibility to meet changing market trends, and provides full comfort in cabin layouts ranging from six-abreast first and business class to an efficient nine abreast arrangement in economy

In the business class cabin, the A330/A340 cross-section allows for a 2-2-2 seating configuration with only window and aisle seats, eliminating the unwanted centre seat found with the 7-abreast lay-out used on other airliners. In economy class, the A330/A340 has as many as 12 per cent more window seats and 40 per cent fewer middle seats.

The additional headroom available on the A330 and A340 allows for unequalled overhead storage, giving passengers more space to stow their carry-on bags with a minimum of disruption during boarding and deplaning. Passengers also benefit from the quietest cabin in the long-range market, with on average half the noise as other comparable aircraft.
...new cabin designs: Airbus cabin designers are looking at ways to make flying more like being at home or in the office for high-revenue-paying passengers. The Astra Privilege Project is aimed at improving aircraft cabins and the quality of service by adding wider and more comfortable flat-bed seats in the first- and business-class cabins. Among the 27 patents already generated by the Astra Project is a 26.35-inch-wide seat that converts into an 80-inch-long flat bed, and which also integrates a baggage stowage area under it.
