Julian Whitehead became Executive Vice President – Finance of the Airbus Defence and Space Division on 1 January 2014 and Chairman of Airbus Defence and Space Limited. Prior to assuming this position, he had been Chief Financial Officer of the former Cassidian enterprise since July 2012.
Previously, Julian Whitehead had been the Chief Finance Officer of MBDA for nearly 11 years since the company’s formation in December 2001. In this role he saw the development of the company into the third global player in the missile market.
Before this, Julian Whitehead held several different roles within BAE Systems and its forerunner, British Aerospace, in both the defence and civil areas. Prior to joining British Aerospace, he worked at KPMG as a Financial Management Consultant and BICC plc (now Balfour Beatty plc).
Julian Whitehead was born in Liverpool in 1962 and graduated with a degree in Commerce from the University of Birmingham in 1984, before qualifying as a Chartered Management Accountant in 1987.
