Airbus’ 21st century flagship A380 – which began its operational career in 2007 with launch customer Singapore Airlines – continues to receive high marks in commercial service across the globe, reinforcing its reputation as the new “queen of the skies.”
More than 151,000 revenue flights – representing over 1.2 million hours aloft – have been performed so far by the 120-plus A380s delivered to 10 customers to date: Air France, British Airways, China Southern, Emirates, Korean Air, Lufthansa, Malaysia Airlines, Qantas, Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways International.
Since entering commercial service, the fleet of jetliners has carried over 55 million passengers. The global A380 fleet also has an average daily utilisation that is greater than 13 hours, and services 116 weekly frequencies.
Airbus’ A380 Family provides a typical capacity of 525 passengers in a three-class configuration, seated on two spacious decks. It is an essential part of the solution to sustainable growth, doing more with less: alleviating traffic congestion at busy airports by transporting more passengers without requiring additional departure/arrival slots, and at much lower cost.
