Onboard well-being
Unrivalled passenger experience
Airbus cabins are designed to offer passengers and airlines the highest levels of comfort, services and efficiency. Comfort always has been a major design consideration to ensure the best possible passenger experience across all families of Airbus families.
Not only are these cabins innovative and attractive, they also are being continuously improved to provide the quietest, most comfortable and enjoyable flights for both passengers and crews.
Each Airbus jetliner is designed to fully leverage its right-sized fuselage cross-section for more relaxing flights. Taking advantage of the A320’s wide fuselage, the enhanced cabins for A320 Family aircraft offer increased space and light in noticeably quieter environments; while the A330/A340 Family ensures that no passenger is more than one seat from the aisle.
In addition, the double-deck A380 – with a passenger cabin wider than any other airliner in service today – allows for more spacious seats and aisles in all classes of service, along with additional open space and other amenities. Airbus is building on the A380’s industry leading cabin innovations with its new-generation A350 XWB – which will feature wide seats and aisles with straight sidewalls, along with optimum head and shoulder clearance.
Breathe easy

Effective cabin air conditioning is a major factor in maintaining high levels of passenger comfort. To ensure this, Airbus aircraft are equipped with advanced control systems to maintain airy and fresh environments. The cabin crews have precise control over the temperature in more individual zones of the aircraft throughout the flight, optimising levels of comfort for passengers at all times.
The air in the entire cabin is completely replaced every two-to-three minutes and outside air replenishes the cabin air constantly through mixing with the recirculated air. High efficiency filters remove 99.99 per cent of particulate and organic matter.
Staying connected in-flight

All Airbus aircraft can be fitted with state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment systems, which offer individual screens with audio and video on demand throughout the cabin – with access to hundreds of high quality audio and video programmes. In addition, passengers can access other services such as live satellite television broadcasts, safety instructions in multiple languages, real-time outside views from landscape cameras, international news and connecting flight information.
In addition, Airbus has developed a pioneering aircraft connectivity platform that delivers a full range of services – allowing passengers to use their own wireless communication devices to make and receive phone calls; send and receive SMS messages; access e-mails with attachments; and browse the Internet.
Creating a pleasant atmosphere
Airbus was the first manufacturer to introduce ambient lighting as a factory fit option on commercial aircraft – which has now become more widely adopted across the air transport industry. Today it is possible to fit ambient lighting on all Airbus aircraft, allowing airlines to adapt the cabin lighting and create an atmosphere in line with their branding and colour scheme.
Pre-defined lighting scenarios use colours, brightness levels and dynamic transitions to provide a pleasant and refined cabin atmosphere in all phases of flight. For example, this feature can be utilised to minimise jet lag by simulating sunrise or sunset.
