The new experience

- Social area on the upper deck
Millions of passengers around the globe already have enjoyed the one-of-a-kind flying experience offered by Airbus’ A380, which is redefining the meaning of comfort in all classes of service.
The A380’s main deck cabin is wider than any airliner in service today, allowing for more spacious seats and aisles – along with open spaces and access to additional amenities such as business centres and bar/social areas.
Two widebody decks

- Wide stairs offer easy access the upper deck area
The jetliner’s main deck measures 6.58 metres across, while its upper deck is 5.92-metres-wide – providing a true widebody experience in all cabins. Coupled with the A380’s optimal cabin height, these key advantages provide more personal storage, better head room and wider stairs.
The built-in cabin arrangement flexibility allows airlines to differentiate their products and develop solutions for specific market mixes. Airlines ordering the A380 are making innovative uses of the aircraft’s decks, including suites on Singapore Airlines’ A380s – which have separate sitting and sleeping areas, and include a full-sized bed.

A fresh approach

Overall passenger comfort is enhanced by a number of additional technologies equipped on Airbus’ A380, including advanced lighting systems and new standards of in-flight entertainment.
Cabin air is recycled every three minutes to keep the atmosphere fresh, while natural light is provided by 220 cabin windows. Four high-level air outlets – as opposed to the industry standard of two – keep customers refreshed during all phases of flight.
Spotlight on...
...cabin research: To create the A380 cabin, the most spacious and comfortable yet designed for a large commercial aircraft, Airbus went to huge lengths to find out what passengers themselves wanted. Vast cabin mock-ups were taken to eight major cities on three continents and the views of 1,200 frequent travellers – male and female and from a range of cultures and nationalities – were listened to.

- The 4400m2 surface of the A380 is covered in three layers of paint weighing around 500kg.
- During take-off the A380 wing will flex upwards by over 4m.
The air in the A380 cabin is changed every 3 minutes and the temperature can be selected between 18 and 30 degrees.
In the first 3 years of service, around 15 million passengers have flown the A380.
