The A321 accommodates 185 passengers in a two-class configuration over a range of up to 3,200nm/5,950km, and up to 220 passengers in a high-density configuration. It can be powered by CFM56-5 or IAE V2500-A5 engines.
A variant of the A320neo (new engine option) with maximum takeoff weight of 97 tonnes will have the longest range of any single-aisle aircraft – 4,000 NM. – while being able to fly 164 passengers in a comfortable three-class layout. This variant was launched by Airbus in January 2015, with the first deliveries set for 2019.
