A380F
Freighter of the future
Airbus conceived the 21st century flagship A380 Family from the start to include a freighter version. With the capability to carry a payload of 150 tonnes over distances of 5,600 nautical miles, the A380F freighter will haul more cargo, over farther distances, and at lower cost than its nearest competitor.
Accommodating standard interchangeable containers and pallets on its three levels, the A380F offers the optimal solution for non-stop hub-to-hub freight operations. Total internal volume for containers and bulk cargo is significantly more than 1,000 cubic meters.
Eco-friendly
As with the A380 passenger jetliner, the A380F delivers the lowest fuel burn and operating costs in commercial aviation, and its ultra-quiet operation allows night-time cargo flights to even the most noise-sensitive airports. Producing only about 75g of CO2 per passenger kilometre, the A380 responds to the air transport sector’s commitment to minimise greenhouse gas emissions by operating at well below current international limits.
Its airframe incorporates composites and other advanced materials, resulting in significant weight savings. State-of-the-art technologies such as a hydraulic system operating at a pressure level of 5,000 psi. provide higher reliability while reducing overall mass.
Fly-by-wire advantages
The new-generation cockpit with the latest interactive displays and avionics ensures the A380F provides the optimum handling conditions and flight characteristics for pilots, while also retaining the unique benefits of Airbus operational commonality across its full fly-by-wire product line. Airbus introduced its new Brake to Vacate technology on the A380, which allows the aircraft to decelerate quickly and safely on landing while engaging the chosen runway exit at optimum conditions.
