BAA Jet Management Ltd. is ready to receive the first A318 Elite registered in China. Airbus is supporting the aircraft’s certification and delivery with Chinese authorities, clearing the way for its basing in Shenzhen – where the A318 Elite will be available for VVIP charter operations.
The first A318 Elite to be registered in China is being readied for delivery to BAA Jet Management Ltd., which will base it in Shenzhen, China for VVIP charter operations as the company’s first-managed Airbus aircraft.
“For our clients, the A318 Elite’s cabin will be something to behold – offering much greater comfort and space than the traditional business jets,” explained BAA Director of Sales and Marketing Jeffrey Lowe. “With its seating for 18 passengers, we can carry larger groups than any other corporate jet currently available for charter in the region today.”
Lowe said the A318 Elite’s certification by Chinese airworthiness authorities opens the opportunities for additional sales and operations of this newest – and smallest – member of the Airbus Corporate Jetliner family in an important, and growing, marketplace.
“We have found Airbus to be a very willing partner in paving the way for our A318 Elite operations – demonstrating excellent support and flexibility in dealing with some of the unique issues we face in Asia in terms of certification and delivery issues,” he added. “Our customers also appreciate the technology incorporated in this aircraft, including fly-by-wire and its Category 3B landing capabilities.”
BAA Jet Management will become a major operator of Airbus’ executive and private aviation aircraft family, with three ACJs and two A350 XWB Prestige aircraft to be added to its portfolio. Two of the ACJs will undergo their cabin completion at the Airbus Corporate Jet Centre in Toulouse, France.
The Hong Kong-based BAA Jet Management was established in October 2005 to provide business jet management, charter, aircraft acquisition services and fixed-based operations, targeting the requirements of private individuals, corporations and leisure clients in China and Asia.
